Mâyceramics

Stoneware for slow mornings, glazed the color of deep water.

Mugs, bowls and vases thrown by hand in a small Seattle studio. Every piece is a little different, and every piece ships from my Etsy shop wrapped in paper, never plastic.

How a Mây mug gets to your kitchen

  1. A potter leaning over the wheel shaping a tall cylinder of clay

    Thrown

Each piece starts as a ball of clay on the wheel, shaped by hand in about ten minutes.

  2. Hands attaching a handle to a leather hard cup on a banding wheel

    Trimmed

A day later it is trimmed, and handles and spouts go on while the clay is leather hard.

  3. A brush painting pale blue glaze inside a bisque bowl

    Glazed

After the first firing I brush or dip every glaze by hand. This is where the colors happen.

  4. A potter in an apron finishing a tall bottle vase beside other pieces

    Fired and shipped

A second firing to 2,232 degrees makes it food safe and strong. Then it is wrapped and on its way.

Something just for you

A few recent words from buyers, shared with their permission.

The deep water bowl is even prettier in person. It lives on my table with lemons in it.

Priya, Austin

Ordered six custom mugs for my coffee cart. Linh sent photos at every step.

Tomás, Portland

Packed so carefully, with a handwritten note. It felt like a gift to myself.
